Construction of two new corridors on Delhi Metro Phase 4 to begin by year-end

July 22, 2024: it was reported that construction work on two new Delhi Metro corridors under the Phase 4 project, spanning from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block and from Indraprastha to Inderlok, is set to begin by the end of this year. The Centre has recently approved these corridors, which will cover a total distance of 20.07 km and improve connectivity across several areas in South and Central Delhi.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has accelerated preliminary work on these corridors. According to an Indian Express report, the alignment work, including surveys, route studies, and necessary statutory clearances, has been completed.

Currently, the DMRC is working to secure statutory clearances from various departments. A senior DMRC official mentioned that the process includes acquiring land from authorities and obtaining forest clearances and tree-cutting permissions. In addition to these clearances, planning and tendering for civil works are also underway.

The Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block corridor aims to provide seamless connectivity to areas such as Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash 1, Chirag Dilli, Pushpa Bhawan, Pushp Vihar, Saket District Centre, and Saket G Block.

The Indraprastha to Inderlok corridor is notable for being the first metro line with multiple interchange stations. This 12-km section will feature ten stations, with interchange facilities to other lines at five stations, including the Blue Line (Delhi to Noida/Vaishali), Pink Line (Majlis Park to Maujpur), Magenta Line (Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West), Yellow Line (Gurgaon to Samaypur Badli), and Red Line (Rithala to Ghaziabad New Bus Adda).

Additionally, the South Delhi corridor will offer interchange facilities with the Yellow, Magenta, Pink, and Violet lines, further enhancing connectivity across the metro network.
