In Rudrapur, as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the District Development Authority (DDA) is set to employ Mivan shuttering technology to construct earthquake-resistant houses for the underprivileged. The initiative will be implemented in Udham Singh Nagar, where 1,872 cost-effective flat houses are slated for construction in Bagwala village. The ambitious project, spanning 15 acres and costing Rs 130 crore, requires applicants to pay a fee of Rs 5,000.
Notably, this marks the inaugural use of Mivan technology in government schemes for housing construction. Departing from conventional brick methods, Mivan shuttering technology utilizes lightweight aluminum formworks to simultaneously cast walls and slabs, providing superior strength and durability.
This system is much faster than traditional beam, column and brick construction. Plus, this technology prevents dampness issues and enhances earthquake resistance.
The flat houses will be constructed under the PMAY (U), where beneficiaries can receive a flat with a room, living room, toilet, bathroom, kitchen and verandah by paying Rs 3.5 lakh. Furthermore, the government provides subsidies worth Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh.
