The governments of India and Japan reached an agreement in April 2015 to create JITs as part of the India-Japan Promotion Partnership. According to information from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry India, as of December 2021, India has 114 Japanese enterprises across all JITs.
