January 11, 2024: In order to enhance convenience for travelers along the upcoming Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, a Highway Village is currently under development along the route in Unnao. As per a report from TOI, the location for the Highway Village has been identified on both sides of the expressway at a distance of approximately 31 km from Lucknow within the Greenfield section. Construction has also commenced on the opposite side of the Sai River.
The expressway will feature limited exit passages to facilitate smooth traffic flow. The Highway Village is strategically planned to offer a range of essential amenities, including restaurants, hotels, a food court, banks, workshops, fuel stations (including CNG stations), and charging points.
The Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is a 63-km six-lane expressway being developed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). In the first phase of the project, an 18 km elevated road is being developed between Lucknow and Bani. Once operational, the expressway will reduce travel time between the two cities from 1.5 hours to about 45 minutes.
As cited in the media report, the project director of NHAI Lucknow, Saurabh Chaurasia, said the expressway will be connected to Purvanchal Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Ganga Expressway. For the convenience of commuters, the authority has decided to develop a Highway Village comprising various facilities where commuters can rest. They have identified the land at the Greenfield section of the Highway Village.
