Navi Mumbai, constructed as a satellite town to Mumbai, has made significant progress over the past ten years. Currently, every single node, whether old or new, being established in Navi Mumbai is being strategically developed to offer advanced social and physical infrastructure to the residents. Navi Mumbai is where India's biggest transit-oriented development (TOD) is located at Seawoods Darave, for instance. The Navi Mumbai Metro (NMM) commencing operations marks the latest achievement of this satellite city.
Cidco built the Navi Mumbai Metro, a mass rapid transit system. In order to relieve congestion on the railway system and increasing traffic on the roads, it was necessary to introduce a new form of public transportation that would connect all residential areas in Navi Mumbai. Therefore, the Navi Mumbai Metro was planned to have five lines, spanning a total length of 106.4 kilometers. The Navi Mumbai Metro is crucial for the smart city's transportation requirements and will also drive the city's economic development.

Navi Mumbai Metro: Impact on real estate
The Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 goes through all of Kharghar before reaching Pendhar. Due to this, it links different areas within Kharghar and also provides a connection between Kharghar and Pendhar, which was previously only accessible through NMMT buses, autos, and Eco share taxis, the latter options being costly. Due to the enhanced connectivity, the property value in the Kharghar residential market has begun to increase. Moreover, the location features extensive plots of land that are under development by well-known developers.
